Rated 90+ on Whiskybase across 21 votes.  "..Excellent, all on olive 'juice' (I like that), anchovies again, smoked fish, a little cider, oysters again (just any breed)... Not much medicinal notes and the peatiness is, say 'controlled'. Very good. Finish: long and extremely briny and salty. Comments: whichever the wood technology that's inside, this is brilliant whisky provided you like these kinds of ueber-briny profiles that only Bowmore can also display. A unique Yamazaki Single Malt from the 2020 limited edition series released in Nov. 2020. As we know, the usual Yamazaki bottlings are not usually very peated, except for specific heavily peated releases in the past. Matured in American oak barrels and hogsheads, this represents one of the key component malts. Color: pale straw Nose: wood smoke and barbequed pineapple Palate: Sweet creamy vanilla combined with subtle smoke Finish: peppery and spicy with continued smoke. Delightfully smoky and pleasant.

Distilled on 22nd June 1998 and matured in Bordeaux Wine Barriques for 17 years at the legendary No.1 Vaults (one of the world's oldest Scotch Warehouse) of Bowmore, this is a Distillery Exclusive bottling with only 1500 bottles being released.  This has been released under the Craftmen's Collection (and specifically celebrating the Stillmen's role in keeping an expert eye on middle cut or the heart of the distillation). Rich mahogany in color with red stone fruits and baked apple on the nose bursting with tangy stewed fruits on the palate and a lingering sea salt on the finish.

Each year, the Distillery Manager at Laphroaig (John Campbell in this case) handcrafts a limited edition for the "Friends of Laphroaig" to celebrate friendship ("Cairdeas" in Gaelic). Released at Fèis Ìle 2015 to celebrate the distillery's 200th anniversary, 100% floor malted barley (from the distillery's own small malting floor) was used with the two smaller and older stills. Reportedly matured in ex-bourbon casks for about 11-12 years, this bottling captures Master Distiller John Campbell's vision of how Laphroaig was originally produced.

This is a marriage of the East and the West. Legendary Mizunara Oak Casks which have been unique to Japanese Whisky,  travelled 6000 miles from Japan to Islay and sat in Bowmore's equally legendary No.1 Vaults to finish this remarkable creation.

Originally matured in Bourbon and Sherry Casks, which were then finished in Mizunara Oak Casks for about 3 years.

Mizunara Oak maturation usually imparts unique flavours of sandalwood and coconut. Bowmore Official Tasting Notes (Website) for this bottling.
