Chichibu Distillery was established in 2004 by Ichiro Akuto San (Venture Whisky), who comes from a family that has had a long history & tradition in Sake brewing (since 1625 at Chichibu in Saitama).

Since its' first whisky being produced in 2008, Chichibu distillery has gathered a strong fan base across the world for its' whiskies with Ichiro San winning several awards for his blending/vatting skills. From trying to save his grandfather's Hanyu casks to the frequently auctioned card series bottlings of Hanyu to a variety of his very own vatted malts and experimental releases, Ichiro san has indeed come a long way and rightly deserves his pre-eminent position in the Whisky industry.

Ichiro's Malt WWR Wine Wood Reserve Japanese Pure Malt Whisky 700ml – deep ruby spirit with iconic red-pink leaf label alongside dark green gift box, matured in wine casks at Chichibu Distillery, 46% ABV | 一郎麥芽葡萄酒桶珍藏純麥威士忌 秩父蒸餾廠 紅葉標誌 葡萄酒桶熟成
A vatting of Chichibu, Hanyu and several other world whiskies vatted in a rather unique Ovum (egg) - shaped cask made from French Oak, shaped in the Charentes region by the Taransaud Company.  As we would expect, sweet wine notes, red berries with some spiciness on the nose and a palate which reminds us of fresh apples, caramel sweetness, mild spices and some light tannins. A medium long dry finish with some subtle chocolate bitterness.

This is a special bottling released by the Chichibu Distillery and is a vatting of malt from two distilleries, "Chichibu" and "Komagatake", which has been matured at the Chichibu Distillery in a variety of Bourbon Barrel, American White Oak and Sherry Oak for more than 5 years. In 2015, Venture Whisky (Chichibu) Distillery and Mars Shinshu Distillery began exchanging their new make spirit, which was subsequently matured in their respective locations. 10,200 bottles were released.

This 2019 release is a vatting of 52 casks, which have been aged between five and ten years. Casks used are primarily first-fill ex-bourbon, some second-fill Chibidaru casks and apparently some Hogsheads with Mizunara (Japanese oak) heads. Some portion may also have included some peated whisky.
