Tasting Notes
Nose: The nose is bold and smoky, with sweet vanilla and caramel from the bourbon barrels, layered with citrus and tropical fruit, and hints of floral and mineral complexity.
Palate: On the palate, it is full-bodied and warming, with creamy malt sweetness balancing maritime peat smoke, fresh and candied citrus, toffee, and subtle spice.

The ex-Bourbon casks make up a large part of the vatting, lending that unmistakable Kilchoman character, while the addition of Calvados casks, which may surprise a few people, infuses vibrant green apple and fresh fruit notes into the mix."
Tasting Note: Nose: Fragrant and delicate with bursting notes of fresh pineapple, hibiscus and lemon sherbets. Color: Light beech darkening nicely with age. Nose: Peaty aroma, nice soft cooked fruits, Christmas cake. Palate: Cloves, butterscotch, soft citrus, mouth-filling and with a lasting sweetness. The 100% Islay 13th Edition was distilled from 2012, 2013 and 2014 barley harvests before being matured for 44 bourbon barrels for a minimum of 8 years. This unique Single Farm Single Malt is the only whisky in Scotland to be produced entirely on one farm, from barley to bottle. The barley was then malted onsite and peated using local Islay peat before being distilled, matured and eventually bottled all within the farm distillery’s premises. Limited to 13,000 bottles. Awarded 95 Points at IWSC 2022 (Gold Medal Winner).

Kilchoman 14 Year Old Ex-Sherry “20th Anniversary Cask Series” is a limited-edition, one of two 14-year expressions celebrating 20 years of Kilchoman distillery operations. It was distilled in 2011 and fully matured for 14 years in five first-fill ex-sherry butts (cask nos. 145, 146, 148, 149, and 150), imparting intense notes of dates, spices, and chocolate alongside Kilchoman’s signature coastal, peaty style. A total of 3,145 bottles were released worldwide, with approximately 20 ppm phenols.
Tasting Note: Nose: Fresh and spicy with bold BBQ smoke, black pepper, and rich dried fruits. Palate: Intense, with warming spices and dried dates on the palate. The Sauternes Cask Matured 2024 Edition, the third limited release of this cask type was bottled at the end of May 2024. It’s been fully aged in ex-Sauternes wine casks for over 5 years and comes in at 50% ABV. To get just the right balance between the Sauternes cask influence and that classic Kilchoman character, founder and master blender Anthony Wills went with a good mix of second-fill Sauternes casks. He picked 22% first-fill and 78% second-fill casks from 2017 and 2018. Fun fact: most of the second-fill casks used were finishing casks from the 2018 release, resulting in a tasty blend of buttery sweetness, barbecued pineapple, candied ginger, and floral peat smoke.
Nose: Creamy, buttery notes with ripe fruits, a hint of salty sea air and subtle peat smoke. Palate: Butterscotch and floral notes combine with tropical and candied fruits with integrated peat smoke flowing throughout. Named after the famously dark, peaty loch overlooked by the distillery, our annual Loch Gorm limited edition is our only regular expression matured entirely in oloroso sherry casks.
For the 2023 Edition Anthony and Robin selected a total of 22 casks, 8 distilled in 2013, 6 distilled in 2014, and 8 distilled in 2015. Each cask was chosen for its unique flavour profile which, when combined together with the other 21 casks, create a beautiful balance of rich fruity character with layers of classic Kilchoman peat smoke and citrus sweetness.

This scotch whisky named after an inlet on Islay’s rugged Atlantic coast, Sanaig is a vatting of both sherry and bourbon casks. The high proportion of Oloroso sherry influence adding a balance of dried fruits and spices to classic Kilchoman citrus sweetness and peat smoke character.
Predominantly Sherry Cask matured, Sanaig was awarded the BEST Single Malt Scotch Whisky -NAS at IWSC 2016 and 2022. It snagged a Gold metal Award on the 2024 and 2022 International Spirits Challenge and Spirits Business Awards 2024 Master. .
