For the 2023 Edition Anthony and Robin selected a total of 22 casks, 8 distilled in 2013, 6 distilled in 2014, and 8 distilled in 2015. Each cask was chosen for its unique flavour profile which, when combined together with the other 21 casks, create a beautiful balance of rich fruity character with layers of classic Kilchoman peat smoke and citrus sweetness.

During development, the blend was tasted with various Dominican cigars to adjust the recipe. Following on the hugely popular Fino 1st release in 2020, this is the 2nd Fino Release of Kilchoman. From a total of 20 select Fino Sherry Butts, the Sherry butts were selected from Bodega Jose y Miguel Martin (Spain).
The Fino Sherry maturation works incredibly well with our classic Kilchoman character. The 2023 release elevates the fragrant green apple, stewed fruits and sweet citrus while allowing for the unmistakea- ble Kilchoman peat smoke to linger on the palate. Fino is another example of sherry casks working together, not against, our Kilchoman spirit. Limited to 15,650 bottles worldwide.
Nose: Elegant, dry peat smoke on the initial nosing, gradually opens to the unmistakable fruity character of Kilchoman. The distinct influence from the Fino Sherry casks provides dry, smoked oak which balances with the smoke found in the heavily peated Kilchoman malt. A lasting aroma of sweet butterscotch as the whisky begins to open. Palate: Honeycomb sweetness can be found immediately on the palate, gradually giving way to rich toffee and caramel. The Kilchoman spirit brings together candied fruits and the fresh citrus found in the distillation. Flaked almonds and a delicate peat smoke remain throughout. Finish: Long-lasting considered finish combining the malty spirit of Kilchoman, with the ripened citrus fruit profile provided by the Fino Sherry casks. The 100% Islay 13th Edition was distilled from 2012, 2013 and 2014 barley harvests before being matured for 44 bourbon barrels for a minimum of 8 years. This unique Single Farm Single Malt is the only whisky in Scotland to be produced entirely on one farm, from barley to bottle. The barley was then malted onsite and peated using local Islay peat before being distilled, matured and eventually bottled all within the farm distillery’s premises. Limited to 13,000 bottles. Awarded 95 Points at IWSC 2022 (Gold Medal Winner).
NOSE: Malt loaf, toffee apple, banana bread, citrus, lavender, pear drops, sea salt and hints of peat smoke. The Sauternes Cask Matured 2024 Edition, the third limited release of this cask type was bottled at the end of May 2024. It’s been fully aged in ex-Sauternes wine casks for over 5 years and comes in at 50% ABV. To get just the right balance between the Sauternes cask influence and that classic Kilchoman character, founder and master blender Anthony Wills went with a good mix of second-fill Sauternes casks. He picked 22% first-fill and 78% second-fill casks from 2017 and 2018. Fun fact: most of the second-fill casks used were finishing casks from the 2018 release, resulting in a tasty blend of buttery sweetness, barbecued pineapple, candied ginger, and floral peat smoke.
Nose: Creamy, buttery notes with ripe fruits, a hint of salty sea air and subtle peat smoke. Palate: Butterscotch and floral notes combine with tropical and candied fruits with integrated peat smoke flowing throughout. The sixth batch of Single Malt whisky from Nagahama Distillery features a base of Mizunara oak-aged spirits. Besides showcasing the unique oriental character of Mizunara oak, it also emphasizes the balance between the woody aromas and other flavors.
Nagahama used two distinctly different Mizunara oak cask spirits in the blend:
-First Fill Mizunara oak spirit distilled in 2020, exhibiting strong woody and spicy aromas.
-Second Fill Mizunara oak spirit distilled in the same year, contributing fruity aromas of fresh orange and white peach.
To enrich the flavor profile, Nagahama also added spirits matured in bourbon and Islay Quarter Casks, giving the whisky a touch of sweet tartness and a subtle smokiness. A total of 3,968 bottles were bottled.
Nose: Woody aroma of Japanese furniture, complemented by the tartness of citrus, the sweetness of toffee, and a light smoky note – quite pleasant. Palate: Medium-bodied, with fruity notes and a sweet-bitter caramel flavor behind the smokiness. Finish: Long smoky woody finish.

Nagahama released its first Single Malt, The First Batch, in 2022, followed by Second and Third batches. Entering 2024-2025, the series shows signs of accelerating, with this Fifth Batch released only about six months after the previous "Batch". This release is approximately 3,000 bottles.
Nagahama The Fifth Batch was distilled in 2020, aged for 2 years and 8 months in Islay Quarter Cask and the KOVAL distillery Casks of the US, and then further matured for 1 year in Oloroso Sherry Hogshead.
Nose: Fruity notes of fresh orange and white peach, accompanied by the sweetness of apricot candy. Palate: The mid-palate unfolds with a warm sweetness reminiscent of honey cake and maple pancakes. Smooth with spicy notes of nutmeg and clove. Finish: Dry, elegant tannin from the sherry casks, lingering long after the first sip.

Nagahama Distillery has been operating since 2016. During this time, Nagahama has developed its World Blended series, "Amahagan," while also releasing single cask blends. After accumulating considerable experience, they launched their first Single Malt, "The First Batch," in 2022. The subsequent "The Second Batch," with its peaty style, was both critically acclaimed and commercially successful, demonstrating that Nagahama has finally found its own path.
"The Third Batch" uses Mizunara oak, Islay quarter casks, bourbon casks, and Koval whisky casks. The spirits used are aged for 3-4 years and then bottled at 50% ABV.
Nose: Smoky scent wafts from afar. The first aroma is a fresh malt scent. A deeper sniff reveals notes of raisins, dried apricots, and persimmons, mingled with hints of chocolate cookie, complemented by a moderate smokiness – quite pleasant! Palate: the beer is robust and smooth, with honey sweetness and malt notes intertwined, creating a pleasantly sweet and comforting flavor. Finish: The mid-to-late stages reveal peaty and smoky notes that linger on the palate.

Nose: Sweet blend of citrus and oak, reminiscent of tanko (Japanese incense). Palate: Sweet blend of wood and saffron, with a very noticeable influence from the Mizunara oak, somewhat like the feel of Japanese furniture. Finish: Woody aroma, accompanied by peaty notes, continues into the long finish.
