The base of Wakashio Distillery’s imo shochu, with strawberries from “No-Life Ichigo-no-mura” farm in Shibushi and spicy, refreshing cardamom, result in a spirit that pops. 

Wakashio F-Spirits are crafted using non-standard fruits and vegetables from the Osumi Peninsula, this new distilled spirit is based on sweet potato shochu and has a unique aroma created by combining different ingredients. Each bottle captures the essence of southern Japan - a harmonious blend of traditional craftsmanship and innovative spirit-making.

Founded in 1968, Wakashio Distillery is a cooperative partnership of five local distilleries. With a commitment to “diversity,” they leverage their unique characteristics to enhance the production of high-quality and appealing spirits. The distillery is well-regarded, particularly for its connection to Wakashio Shuzo (若潮酒造), a Japanese sake brewery celebrated for its high-quality sake, which emphasizes traditional methods and local ingredients.

This 2022 version of GLOW used a different variety of sweet potato than originally planned, due to the effects of the local sweet potato blight. To our surprise, we ended up creating a wonderful flavor.

While staying true to GLOW’s signature fruity flair, this fragrance blends the sweet, noble aroma reminiscent of wisteria flowers with notes of plum, raisin, and yogurt. It features the rich sweetness of honeyed sweet potato, balanced by the tart, tangy finish of blackcurrant.

Traditional kame pots for fermentation and wooden pot still for distillation result in this imo shochu with a slight aroma of cedar and deep flavor. Blending with aged shochu brings out even more depth of flavor, but also a mellow mouthfeel.

Distilled in 1989 and bottled in 2013, aged for 23 years. Located south of Pitlochry in the Vale of Atholl, Perthshire, Blair Athol is one of Scotland’s oldest distilleries, operating on this historic site since 1798 and often called the gateway to the Highlands.

Tullibardine 500 Sherry Cask Finish
Released in 2013, this rich, malty whisky was finished for 12 months in premium 500-litre sherry casks. It features intense notes of toffee, apples, cereal, vanilla, dates, and spice with a deep, dark brown color.

Caol Ila 1979, 34 Years Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
This rare and vintage Caol Ila single malt Scotch whisky was distilled on May 2nd, 1979, and matured for 34 years in a bourbon hogshead cask (#5308). Bottled on June 6th, 2013, by Three Rivers Limited in Tokyo, this expression offers a remarkable journey through decades of aging.

Kohaku (Karuizawa) 10 Years Old Single Malt Whisky
A superb opportunity to taste whisky from the now-closed Karuizawa Distillery. Distilled in 1995 and aged for 10 years in a sherry butt, this expression was bottled in 2005. The distillery was mothballed in 2000 and permanently closed in 2011.

Ichiro’s Malt Double Distilleries
This bottling combines malt from two distilleries, Chichibu and Hanyu (Ichiro’s grandfather’s distillery). The nose reveals honeyed sweet berries with hints of spices. On the palate, honey sweetness leads to ginger spice, maltiness, and subtle oak.

Ichiro’s Malt & Grain (World Blended Whisky) Blue Leaf
A limited edition from 2018 and one of the earliest Chichibu releases, this expression blends malt whisky from Chichibu with grain whisky from abroad, creating a distinctive “World Blended Whisky.”
