TUN 1509 is one of Balvenie's traditional oak vatting/marrying vessels with a capacity of 8000L. The size of these TUNs allowed Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE (with over 50 years of experience) and who possesses an unequalled knowledge of The Balvenie to hand-select a variety of vintage casks and marry them in Tun 1509, housed in Warehouse 24. Three months of vatting then results in this exceptionally complex and rare single malt Scotch whisky, rated 5 Stars (90 points) by Whiskyfun.
The success of The Balvenie's TUN 1401 series meant that a bigger vat was needed, and in came TUN 1509. One batch is bottled each year and The Balvenie Tun 1509 Batch 1 was launched in 2014.The second batch of TUN1509 released in 2015 comprises 23 American oak barrels and nine European oak sherry butts. This is a limited release of 8,500 bottles.

Distilled in the Winter of 1983 (most likely in the first few months of 1983 before the Port Ellen Distillery closed permanently in May 1983) at Port Ellen and matured in a Sherry Butt for 25 Years, this rare single malt was bottled by Douglas McGibbon & Co in Autumn in 2008. "On the nose, this Port Ellen is oceanic with seaweed, iodine and a character of fresh leather. The palate opens with rich smoke and creasote and develops sweetness with burnt caramel. This is a Single Cask #7107 from Clynelish matured in a Hogshead for 18 years. Distilled in 1997 and bottled in 2016 at a Cask Strength ABV of 52% by Kingsbury under its "Celtic Labels". Kingsbury has been one of the most sought after Independent Bottlers with its roots in Japan.
Nose: coffee and bitter orange. Palate: a rich mouthfeel with some dried fruit, nuts and marmalade Finish: warming, complex whisky with a dry finish and a slightly salty ending. Rated 89+ on Whiskybase. A total of 242 bottles were released.

This 1978 Vintage Collection from the Highland Park Distillery was originally crafted exclusively for Global Travel Retail and bottled in 2011. Nose: Cedar wood, spicy cinnamon bark and camphor. Cloudy honey with hints of ripe melon and lemon peel. Palate: Rich and spicy. Sweet marinated stem ginger, toasted wood, and hints of jasmine. Finish: Long sweet with lingering spiciness. This bottling is a homage to the Vikings' love of travel presented in a beautiful oak box, with the image of an ornate dragon's head and which catpures the spirit of Viking craftsmanship.

This 1988 Vintage 35 Years Old from the Bunnahabhain Distillery is a special bottling by Whisky Antique (Silver Seal) from a Single Cask #1024. Matured in a Sherry Cask for 35 Years and bottled at 46.5% this release of 60 bottles has a special label designed by The East Asia Whisky Company under the Manta Ray Genesis Edition.
The label captures the silhouette of a majestic Manta Ray made visible by the dark emerald and frigid pink clouds that emanate from its dotted pattern radiating in the colors of the marine environment it inhabits.

Whisky Fun Extract: Colour: mahogany. Nose: this is more old-school than the House of Lords. Not talking about the Scotch whisky. Prunes, old cognac, dates, chocolate, figs, whiffs of moss and old pine wood, a few mushrooms and a little liquorice, plus a few roasted nuts, especially pecans. Mouth: we're deeply reminded of some old Speyside malts by G&M. Like pre-war, bottled in the 1970s and 1980s. It is a time machine! More bouillons, chocolate, pipe tobacco, liquorice, truffles, puréed chestnuts, pears poached in Sauternes, very old Sauternes, very old Malaga… It is definitely very 'antique'. I would love to watch young whisky enthusiasts tasting this whisky, or similar whiskies, for the very first time. It would undoubtedly be a real revelation, as they are becoming so rare. Finish: rather long, rather sublime to tell you the truth. Comments: as I sometimes say, we could spend hours sipping a magnum of each to try, and fail to decide which one, between the Kinship and the Silver Seal, is our favourite. The third release in Gordon & MacPhail’s historic rare whisky series pays tribute to George Urquhart, second-generation member of the family behind Gordon & MacPhail. Distilled on 15 October 1959 and matured for 63 years in first-fill sherry cask #3665, it was bottled on 2 November 2022 at natural cask strength, 56.5% ABV, with only 368 bottles released.
Mr George, regarded as the “father of single malt” by renowned whisky writer Charlie MacLean began working with the business in 1933 and later created the iconic Connoisseurs Choice in 1968 to shine the spotlight on single malt whiskies that mostly ended up in blend, including his personal favourite, Glen Grant.
