Cask: Bourbon barrel
Size: 700 ml
A private label bottling for Mizunara. Heavily peated malt in a Bourbon barrel. Color: Light gold Nose: Dive your nose into the glass expecting heaps of smoke and you will be pleasantly surprised with a vanilla, malty nose. Add some water...smoke smoke smoke. Don't forget to nose this whisky even after you have finished the whisky in the glass. Palate: The sweet vanilla and malty flavours are rounded off by some star anise and spicy peppers as we roll the whisky in our mouth. The spices are very evident and the vanilla become pronounced with addition of a few drops of water. Salty caramel, anyone! Cask: Ex-Bourbon
Size: 700 ml
This is an original-release bottling of Laphroaig 18 Years Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky. The expression was first introduced in 2009 as a replacement for the Laphroaig 15 Year Old and was discontinued around the end of 2016. It was relaunched in 2024 as a modern annual release.
Both the older and modern releases are bottled at 48% ABV and matured for 18 years in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels. However, the older release offers a more mature, malt-forward interpretation of Laphroaig 18 Year Old, with a softer and more rounded expression of Islay peat.
This 2009-era bottling displays a deep amber-gold colour and an oily, waxy, distinctly old-school malt character. On the nose, gentle Islay peat smoke mingles with vanilla, soft spice, wild heather and honeyed malt. Compared with the modern release, the peat is softer and less medicinal, allowing the malt and oak character to shine through. This makes the earlier bottling particularly appealing to collectors and enthusiasts seeking the discontinued style of Laphroaig 18 Year Old.

This is the last batch of the Signature 12 release - Batch 5. Matured in 3 distinct casks, first fill bourbon barrel, refill bourbon barrel and oloroso sherry butts, this is truly Balvenie in its style - honey, spices and traditional oak. The Balvenie Signature 12yo replaced the previous favourite, Founders Reserve 10 Years Old as the core release within the distillery's range. This is a marriage of Sherry, Bourbon and Refill casks and, as always with Balvenie, it's a polished, mellow whisky to relax with. No Box is available.
This bottle has been signed by David C Stewart, the then Balvenie Malt Master.
