Nikka Whisky 的兩個獨特釀酒廠：餘市和宮城峽

宮城峽酒廠成立於 1969 年，正隆偶然發現了一個被北方群山環繞、兩條清澈河流交匯處的美麗霧靄峽谷。有一次他嘗試了其中一條河流的水，也就是現在的水源，他印象深刻，並立即決定在那裡建造一座釀酒廠。伴隨著風土的不同，宮城峽不同的蒸餾方式造就了與眾不同的麥芽威士忌。他使用了與餘市不同的技術，這種不同的蒸餾方法使宮城峽單一麥芽威士忌具有柔軟和花香的特性。

Nikka Coffey Malt Whisky, Coffey (nothing to do with Coffee) refers to Stills that are used in continuous distillation usually for grain whisky. This is a malt whisky produced using the same Coffey Stills producing very well balanced flavours including spices, citrus fruits and candied cake.

Discontinued along with other aged statement whiskies from Nikka, Yoichi 10 is the youngest of the Yoichi range that was available earlier.  Using peated malts in direct fired stills, this has been bottled at a higher than usual ABV of 45%. It received a score of 93 points in Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2013 edition. Nose: Peaty smoke, sweet malt, and subtle fruit, with hints of brine. Palate: Full-bodied with smoke and spice. Finish: Long and warming, with lingering smoke and sweetness.

One of the Key Malt bottlings from Yoichi, this is the older and 12 Year aged version which is now discontinued.  The Key Malts represent the various styles of Whisky (in this case Sherry & Sweet) which are produced at Nikka Distilleries and are included in the vatting of the various other Single Malts and Blends released by Nikka. Now a rare find.
