Kanosuke Distillery located on the picturesque shores of Fukiagehama beach in Kagoshima was established in 2017 and started its operations in 2018. Owned by Komasa Jyozo one of the Shochu producers in Japan, this is the first Single Malt released by this new distillery. Unpeated malt distilled using all 3 of their pot stills and aged in a variety of oak barrels (re-charred American white oak ex-“Mellowed Kozuru” aged shochu casks being the main component of casks used) for about 3 years with about 15,000 bottles being released at a cask strength ABV of 58%. Color: Amber Nose: Very present Oak notes along with some sweet lime, orange marmlade, toffee and an overlay of smoke Palate: Woody, vanilla, cinnamon along with some spiciness Finish: Bitter sweetness of chocolate-covered candied orange peel and some dryness.

Named after the famously dark, peaty loch overlooked by the distillery, our annual Loch Gorm limited edition is our only regular expression matured entirely in oloroso sherry casks.
For the 2023 Edition Anthony and Robin selected a total of 22 casks, 8 distilled in 2013, 6 distilled in 2014, and 8 distilled in 2015. Each cask was chosen for its unique flavour profile which, when combined together with the other 21 casks, create a beautiful balance of rich fruity character with layers of classic Kilchoman peat smoke and citrus sweetness.
Nose: Hints of cacao with an essence of leather, black cherry and light smoke. Palate: Roasted hazelnuts, dark chocolate and roasted dark fruits give way to light ashy peat smoke. Finish: Balanced and long with fresh Islay sea breeze. (Tasting Note from Distillery)

A fully sherry cask matured whisky from Balvenie, which is unusual. Each bottle is part of a batch which comprises a few hundred bottles coming from a single cask and hence likely to somewhat different than the other batch while retaining the characteristics of Balvenie's spirit and flavours of rich sherry oak, dried fruits and subtle spices overlaid with a soft nuttiness and a nice long finish.

As we would expect, sweet wine notes, red berries with some spiciness on the nose and a palate which reminds us of fresh apples, caramel sweetness, mild spices and some light tannins. A medium long dry finish with some subtle chocolate bitterness.

Matured in a Sherry Cask for 35 Years and bottled at 46.5% this release of 60 bottles has a special label designed by The East Asia Whisky Company under the Manta Ray Genesis Edition.
The label captures the silhouette of a majestic Manta Ray made visible by the dark emerald and frigid pink clouds that emanate from its dotted pattern radiating in the colors of the marine environment it inhabits.

Whisky Fun Extract: Colour: mahogany. Nose: this is more old-school than the House of Lords. Not talking about the Scotch whisky. Prunes, old cognac, dates, chocolate, figs, whiffs of moss and old pine wood, a few mushrooms and a little liquorice, plus a few roasted nuts, especially pecans. Mouth: we're deeply reminded of some old Speyside malts by G&M. Like pre-war, bottled in the 1970s and 1980s. It is a time machine! More bouillons, chocolate, pipe tobacco, liquorice, truffles, puréed chestnuts, pears poached in Sauternes, very old Sauternes, very old Malaga… It is definitely very 'antique'. I would love to watch young whisky enthusiasts tasting this whisky, or similar whiskies, for the very first time. It would undoubtedly be a real revelation, as they are becoming so rare. Finish: rather long, rather sublime to tell you the truth. Comments: as I sometimes say, we could spend hours sipping a magnum of each to try, and fail to decide which one, between the Kinship and the Silver Seal, is our favourite. "Artist Edition #003" is a lightly peated (around 18 ppm) whisky and is the third release in the Artist Series from the Kanosuke Distillery in Kagoshima, Japan. It has been matured in a variety of casks (bourbon, re-charred ex shochu, sherry, and red wine) which has then been finished in Ex-Kokuto (Brown Sugar) Shochu casks from Amami Oshima Islands of Kagoshima.
Color: orange-amber. Nose: passion fruit, banana, caramel, black tea. Taste: Brown sugar, honey, nikki (a cinnamon like spice), sweet summer, ginger. Finish: Rich brown sugar sweetness with a hint of smoke (Tasting Note from Distillery)
The Artist Edition series from Kanosuke pays homage to the Five Elements that are an integral part of Japanese philosophy: wood, fire, earth, metal and water. The Edition #001 (Artist Mariko Hirasawa/Wood) and Edition #002 (Artist Yuna Yagi/Fire) were the previous releases.
For Artist #003 the label captures the diversity of Kagoshima through the theme of "earth" and has been designed by Mr. Yukihito Kanai, a second generation dyer of "Kanai Kougei" (which dyes natural colors such as mud dyeing of Oshima Tsumugi, an ancient dye of Amami-Oshima). He drew inspiration from his visit to Kanosuke Distillery and the artwork features Fukiage Beach (close to the Distillery) as its motif.

Released in August 2012, this whisky has been matured in traditional oak whisky casks and then ‘finished’ in casks that previously held Caribbean rum. To create the ideal finish Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE filled American oak casks with his own blend of select West Indian rums and when he judged the casks to be ready, the rum was replaced with the aged spirit and the wood was put to work adding the final touches. The result is the traditional smooth, honeyed character of The Balvenie married with notes of toffee and a hint of fruit, with a warm, lingering finish. Matured in first fill Oloroso Sherry oak casks this delivers deep and rich notes of sherried fruits, dark chocolate and a range of spices. An increasingly difficult bottle to find.
