Experience the fourth chapter of KANOSUKE's exclusive "Artist Edition" series, a profound exploration of the Japanese Five Elements philosophy (Godai).
"Artist Edition #004", draws inspiration from “Metal (Gon)” and KANOSUKE's signature three pot stills to create a complex vatting of diverse unpeated spirits. At its core lies a lush, fruity spirit from Kanosuke's Spirits Still 2 (SS2), elevated by the rare depth of triple-distilled bourbon barrel spirit. The journey culminates in a unique finish within Islay casks, matured under the Kagoshima sun in Hioki. This fusion evokes a layered, lingering finish—a dialogue between the sea breezes of Islay and Hioki.
The "Artist Edition" series is inspired by the "Five Elements Theory" (wood, fire, earth, metal, water), a concept deeply rooted in Japanese culture. Various artists have been invited in the past to create original labels based on these five elements.
The beautiful brush gold label is designed by Japanese artist Keiko Yuasa, whose delicate brushwork captures the serene essence of "Metal (Gon)."

"Artist Edition #003" is a lightly peated (around 18 ppm) whisky and is the third release in the Artist Series from the Kanosuke Distillery in Kagoshima, Japan. It has been matured in a variety of casks (bourbon, re-charred ex shochu, sherry, and red wine) which has then been finished in Ex-Kokuto (Brown Sugar) Shochu casks from Amami Oshima Islands of Kagoshima.
Color: orange-amber. Nose: passion fruit, banana, caramel, black tea. Taste: Brown sugar, honey, nikki (a cinnamon like spice), sweet summer, ginger. Finish: Rich brown sugar sweetness with a hint of smoke (Tasting Note from Distillery)
The Artist Edition series from Kanosuke pays homage to the Five Elements that are an integral part of Japanese philosophy: wood, fire, earth, metal and water. The Edition #001 (Artist Mariko Hirasawa/Wood) and Edition #002 (Artist Yuna Yagi/Fire) were the previous releases.
For Artist #003 the label captures the diversity of Kagoshima through the theme of "earth" and has been designed by Mr. Yukihito Kanai, a second generation dyer of "Kanai Kougei" (which dyes natural colors such as mud dyeing of Oshima Tsumugi, an ancient dye of Amami-Oshima). He drew inspiration from his visit to Kanosuke Distillery and the artwork features Fukiage Beach (close to the Distillery) as its motif.

The 100% Islay 13th Edition was distilled from 2012, 2013 and 2014 barley harvests before being matured for 44 bourbon barrels for a minimum of 8 years. This unique Single Farm Single Malt is the only whisky in Scotland to be produced entirely on one farm, from barley to bottle. The barley was then malted onsite and peated using local Islay peat before being distilled, matured and eventually bottled all within the farm distillery’s premises. Limited to 13,000 bottles. Awarded 95 Points at IWSC 2022 (Gold Medal Winner).
NOSE: Malt loaf, toffee apple, banana bread, citrus, lavender, pear drops, sea salt and hints of peat smoke. PALATE: Fresh vanilla and fragrant peat smoke with caramel, barley blossom, sultanas and hints of spicy oak tannins. FINISH: Silky viscosity with fresh crumpets, butter and honey. Following on the hugely popular Fino 1st release in 2020, this is the 2nd Fino Release of Kilchoman. From a total of 20 select Fino Sherry Butts, the Sherry butts were selected from Bodega Jose y Miguel Martin (Spain).
The Fino Sherry maturation works incredibly well with our classic Kilchoman character. The 2023 release elevates the fragrant green apple, stewed fruits and sweet citrus while allowing for the unmistakea- ble Kilchoman peat smoke to linger on the palate. Fino is another example of sherry casks working together, not against, our Kilchoman spirit. Limited to 15,650 bottles worldwide.
Nose: Elegant, dry peat smoke on the initial nosing, gradually opens to the unmistakable fruity character of Kilchoman. The distinct influence from the Fino Sherry casks provides dry, smoked oak which balances with the smoke found in the heavily peated Kilchoman malt. A lasting aroma of sweet butterscotch as the whisky begins to open. Palate: Honeycomb sweetness can be found immediately on the palate, gradually giving way to rich toffee and caramel. The Kilchoman spirit brings together candied fruits and the fresh citrus found in the distillation. Flaked almonds and a delicate peat smoke remain throughout. Finish: Long-lasting considered finish combining the malty spirit of Kilchoman, with the ripened citrus fruit profile provided by the Fino Sherry casks. A subtle peat smoke which has coated the palate right through now shares the finish with hints of dark chocolate. (Tasting Notes from Distillery)

While 90,000 bottles were released then, it has been one of the hugely popular bottlings being a rich, dark and a delicious 12 Year Old to come out of this famous Speyside distillery. Matured in first fill Oloroso Sherry oak casks this delivers deep and rich notes of sherried fruits, dark chocolate and a range of spices. An increasingly difficult bottle to find.

The first single malt whisky released from the newly built Tsunuki Distillery which was built in 2016. Distilled in 2016/17, Tsunuki The First has been matured in bourbon barrels and bottled at a natural cask strength of 59% ABV.

This highly acclaimed and award-winning whisky — named after the father of Japanese whisky, Masataka Taketsuru — won the title of World’s Best Blended Malt Whisky at the 2010 World Whisky Awards.
Sadly, this expression has been discontinued as of 2020 and limited bottles remain available in the market.
Known for its rich complexity and balance, the whisky offers aromas of fresh fruits such as apples and apricots, alongside notes of toast, vanilla, and floral hints. The palate is layered with malt richness, subtle peatiness, and nuanced sweetness featuring flavors of nuts, caramel, ripe fruits, and spices. The finish is long and tender, with lingering notes of green menthol, mocha, honey, and gentle peat.

It ages in a mix of first-fill and refill ex-bourbon barrels, first-fill Sherry casks, and a small portion in new French oak, resulting in a flavor profile rich in sherried fruit and peaty notes. The label features The Wellington Statue, topped with a traffic cone, symbolizing Glasgow's sense of humor.
Tasting Note from distillery: Full, bold and smoky on the palate, Glasgow Blend unites the rich spice and fruitcake-like notes of Sherry cask ageing with the maritime punch of Islay malt whisky.
