The 1981 Kioke Shikomi is regarded to be largely Hakushu (label states Pure Malt) and reportedly bottled in 2005. The name implies "matured in wooden tubs".  The distillation technique seems to have involved the direct fire method and bamboo charcoal filteration. Discontinued in 1999.

A blend of various malt whiskies from the Yamazaki Distillery, each aged for 18 years or more, Yamazaki 18 offers a full-bodied flavor that reflects its meticulous finishing process and the slow, careful maturation of its components.

The sherry cask-aged malt at the heart of Yamazaki 18 imparts a rich sweetness, reminiscent of dried fruits, alongside a savoury, chocolatey aroma. The whisky’s depth and complexity are enhanced by malt whiskies matured in Mizunara casks, crafted from native Japanese oak.

A older version of this Yamazaki 18 years.  A big favourite from the Suntory lineup and a highly awarded whisky. Largely matured in ex-sherry casks.

Color: Deep amber Nose: Raisin, apricot, cafe au lait, Mizunara (Japanese oak) Palate: Blackberry, strawberry jam, dark chocolate. Finish: Long, spicy, smooth and a fair amount of cloves, cardamom and cinnamon. (Suntory's Tasting Notes) 

Whiskyfun gave this 90 points.  Supreme Champion Spirit award at the International Spirits Challenge (ISC) in 2025, SWSC Double Gold Medal in 2005, IWSC Trophy in 2006 and ISC Gold in 2007. This is bottled prior to 2018.

Aged for 12 years in American White Oak Cask #1143. This is a screw cap bottling. Originally a distillery bottling, certain number of these bottles were labeled (or re-labeled) with this Shinanoya label for the same original bottling. Bottled exclusively for Shinanoya.

The Yamazakura Fine Blended Whisky is made by Sasanokawa Shuzo Co, a small distillery in Japan. Orange blossoms on the nose, followed by oak, caramel, and fresh orchard fruit on the palate. Easy on the nose and palate, this is a very gentle whisky with an upfront sweetness that stays on the palate followed by dark chocolate in the finish.

Sasanokawa Shuz's own distillation has also gone through turbulent times in sync with the Japanese whisky market's boom and bust cycles with bulk spirit imports replacing their own production through these times.

A world blended whisky which combines Whisky from the Asaka Distillery owned by Sasanokawa Shuzo & 4 other unnamed distilleries from different whisky regions around the world. The key malt comes from the Asaka Distillery (Japan) while the other whiskies are from Scotland, Ireland, USA and Canada (& 4) 

Tasting Notes: A hint of maple syrup and floral notes on the nose combined with a rich malt on the palate with some cereal notes, hint of spices and and subtle smoky aftertaste.
