This limited release bottling was supposedly launched exclusively for the Japanese department store Takashimaya in mid-2020. Matured in bourbon barrels (reportedly for about 6 years) and a further finishing in Cognac Casks (reportedly for about 1 year). Subtle honey sweetness balanced with fruits.

Their own distillation has also gone through turbulent times in sync with the Japanese whisky market's boom and bust cycles with bulk spirit imports replacing their own production through these times.

Tasting notes Aroma: Salted cherry, sponge cake, floral, lemon-like citrus, distinctive earthiness. Palate: Baby sponge cake, cherry cream, good sweetness, good acidity for balance. Finish: Sweetness lingers for a long time, leaving a clean fresh palate.

This special Limited Release from the Asaka Distillery in the Tohoku Region has been finished in a 8 years aged Sake Cask for 18 months after maturation in a first fill Bourbon Barrel #18151 for over 4 years.

Tasting Note from Distillery: You can feel the gentle Ginjo aroma and sweet vanilla aroma from the sake, the woodiness from the barrel, and the Umami of the malt in a well-balanced manner.

The 2007 vintage cask strength Lagavulin 12 years old whisky was part of the Diageo Special Release for 2020 and was aged in refill American Oak casks. Familiar hints of ash and linseed oil followed by light fruity and maritime notes. A smooth texture with natural honeyed sweetness balanced with peat smoke. Rated 88+ on Whiskybase over more than 200 votes.

This is a 2023 Edition of their PEATED Single Malt Whisky which has been largely matured in Bourbon barrels.  While most of the Asaka Distillery produces Non-Peated Single Malt, they occasionally release a Peated bottling from time to time as well in limited quantities. Released in Dec 2023, there were only 600 bottles.

Malt cookies, lime-like citrus, mild peat. Palate: Smoke, tidal stimulation, alazan, plum. Finish: Peat lingers until the end, with a well-balanced acidity and sweetness in the middle.

A gold medal award-winning in the 2025 World Whiskies Award, silver medal award-winning in the 2024 Tokyo Whisky and Spirits Competition. In 2022, the distillery won the World's Best Blended Malt at 2022 World Whisky Award.

The 100% Islay 13th Edition was distilled from 2012, 2013 and 2014 barley harvests before being matured for 44 bourbon barrels for a minimum of 8 years. This unique Single Farm Single Malt is the only whisky in Scotland to be produced entirely on one farm, from barley to bottle. The barley was then malted onsite and peated using local Islay peat before being distilled, matured and eventually bottled all within the farm distillery’s premises. Limited to 13,000 bottles. Awarded 95 Points at IWSC 2022 (Gold Medal Winner).

NOSE: Malt loaf, toffee apple, banana bread, citrus, lavender, pear drops, sea salt and hints of peat smoke. This is the 1st release of Mars The Y.A. which refers to the Yakushima Aging Cellars located on Yakushima Island (A UNESCO World Heritage Site) in Kagoshima, Japan. The Y.A. #01 uses Malt Whisky distilled at the 2 distilleries owned by Hombo Shuzo at its Shinshu Distillery in Nagano & Tsunuki Distillery in Kagoshima which have been matured in mostly ex-Bourbon Barrels and blending to create a unique expression of fruity aroma. 

This unique expression showcases the complexity of the spirit by blending two different spirits from their 2 owned distilleries matured at a 3rd site. Yakushima Aging Cellar was established in 2016.

This is the core expression from the Clynelish Distillery (successor to the now-silent Brora and built opposite the original distillery). A very well balanced and enjoyable single malt, which is unpeated/very lighty peated and a flavour profile with characteristic waxy notes. Color: Gold Nose: floral, fresh green fruits like apple and pear followed by waxy honey, some mineral notes and tangerine and vanilla Palate: rich body which delivers more than the stated ABV but easy sip on the palate with slight waxiness, honey sweetness, toffee, orange and some subtle oak Finish: reasonably long with intermittent bitter sweet notes, some oak spices and pepper.

A single malt from Mitchell’s Glengyle distillery. Re-opened in 2004 after being closed for almost 80 years, the Glengyle distillery finally came back to the Mitchell family (owners of Springbank) in 2000. 

Bottled in Oct 2018, this is Batch #3 matured in Bourbon Casks. A rich smooth smokey whisky along with vanilla/honey sweetness and a mix of nuts. Nose: Oils and wax with some spices and tobacco. A lovely nose indeed Palate: Rich with a lot of spices including some cardamom, cloves and a leathery smoke with a lot of citrus notes Finish: a beautiful long finish with oils layering the mouth.

This triple distilled, unpeated style single malt whisky from Springbank distillery is matured in bourbon cask for 10 years. Rich with notes of honey and vanilla, citrus fruitiness and a chocolate cream finish that feels oily and chewy. 

This is the 2017 release. For reference, the Whiskyfun rating for the Hazelburn 10y (2014 release) is 90 points.
