Hokuto was intially launched in 2004, but was discontinued since 2009/2010, despite it being a big success. This 12 year old pure malt consists of mostly Hakushu and perhaps some Yamazaki. Smooth and balanced, this was positioned as an "easy drinking whisky".
Suntory Hokuto 12 Pure Malt Old Bottling, Hokuto was intially launched in 2004, but was discontinued since 2009/2010, despite it being a big success. Honey and fruity sweetness at start, followed by hints of spice, oak and citrus bitterness. This is a unique bottling given the general shortage, costs and challenges of maturation in Mizunara Oak.

A limited release of 2021 and part of the Tsukuriwake selection, this Hakushu bottling has been matured in Spanish Oak. Only 300 bottles were made available in Japan followed by an undisclosed number for worldwide markets. Nose: Cacao, Manuka Honey, Dark Chocolate. Palate: Soft sweetness interlaced with a hint of drak chocolate bitterness. Finish: smooth and again some dark chocolate notes.
The Hakushu Spanish Oak were released in 2021. Hakushu Distillery's "Tsukuriwake" Selection.
