Port Ellen’s Annual Releases series comprises 17 highly collectible single malts from the silent Islay distillery, released by Diageo within their Special Releases from 2001 to 2017. The fourth release, distilled in 1978 and matured for 25 years, draws from post-closure warehouse stocks after the distillery shuttered in 1983; it was bottled cask-strength in 2004 at 56.2% ABV, with just 5,100 bottles produced. These editions remain highly sought-after among collectors.

As many Shinshu Mars Whisky enthusiasts would suggest the American White Oak maturation works very well for the distillery and this bottling is a unique Single Cask at a high ABV of 58%. We understand that only 378 bottles are supposed to have been released.

Imperial's history has been dogged by periods of closure and changed ownership several times, until it was finally demolished in 2013. Usually very difficult to find and has somewhat of a fan following of its floral, cream soda, gentle style of spirit.
This bottling by Independent Bottler Signatory Vintage is part of their Cask Strength Collection. Distilled in August 1995 and matured in a Hogshead #50142 for 18 years, it was bottled in January 2014. Only 293 bottles were released.
Nose: Citrus, minerals, almost alkaline balanced with some sweetness. Overall, the nose is quite elegant Palate: Citrus fruits, lemony sweetness with earthiness Finish: The citrus fruits remain with some oak and a warming finish which stays for quite some time.

This 1978 Vintage Collection from the Highland Park Distillery was originally crafted exclusively for Global Travel Retail and bottled in 2011. Nose: Cedar wood, spicy cinnamon bark and camphor. Cloudy honey with hints of ripe melon and lemon peel. Palate: Rich and spicy. Sweet marinated stem ginger, toasted wood, and hints of jasmine. Finish: Long sweet with lingering spiciness. (Producer Tasting Notes). This bottling is a homage to the Vikings' love of travel presented in a beautiful oak box, with the image of an ornate dragon's head and which catpures the spirit of Viking craftsmanship.

Distilled in the Winter of 1983 (most likely in the first few months of 1983 before the Port Ellen Distillery closed permanently in May 1983) at Port Ellen and matured in a Sherry Butt for 25 Years, this rare single malt was bottled by Douglas McGibbon & Co in Autumn in 2008. "On the nose, this Port Ellen is oceanic with seaweed, iodine and a character of fresh leather. The palate opens with rich smoke and creasote and develops sweetness with burnt caramel. The finish remains sweet with bonfire ashes and cloves" - Bottler Tasting Notes.

The third release in Gordon & MacPhail’s historic rare whisky series pays tribute to George Urquhart, second-generation member of the family behind Gordon & MacPhail. Distilled on 15 October 1959 and matured for 63 years in first-fill sherry cask #3665, it was bottled on 2 November 2022 at natural cask strength, 56.5% ABV, with only 368 bottles released.
Mr George, regarded as the “father of single malt” by renowned whisky writer Charlie MacLean began working with the business in 1933 and later created the iconic Connoisseurs Choice in 1968 to shine the spotlight on single malt whiskies that mostly ended up in blend, including his personal favourite, Glen Grant.
