A rare and vintage Speyside single malt whisky from Strathisla distillery, distilled in 1972, matured in Refill sherry butt #503270 and first-fill sherry hogshead #8518 for 40 years, and bottled by Gordon & Macphail for the licensed label bottling series in 2013. A total of 921 bottles were released.

This rare Port Ellen distilled in March 1983 (just prior to being closed in May 1983) was matured in a refill hogshead. About 162 bottles were released in March 2011 by Douglas Liang & Co under their Old Malt Cask range of bottlings.

Aged in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks, The Hielan'  essentially refers to the The Highland Region. Whilst most of the older GlenDronach range of bottlings are quite heavily sherried, rich and sweet, this youngster stands out amongst the rest of the distillery’s core range. Bold with notes of nuts, butterscotch, spice along with hints of raisin and citrus.  If you like the malty flavours with the boldness of this youngster, this whisky is for you.

Kanosuke Owners Club is the Kanosuke Distillery's Cask Ownership Program. This non-peated whisky was distilled on 18th June 2020 and aged in a French Oak sherry cask for three years at a natural cask strength of 63% before bottling in 28th July 2023 for MIZUNARA.

One of 22 bottles across Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan.

One of the Key Malt bottlings from Yoichi, this is the older and 12 Year aged version which is now discontinued.  The Key Malts represent the various styles of Whisky (in this case Sherry & Sweet) which are produced at Nikka Distilleries and are included in the vatting of the various other Single Malts and Blends released by Nikka. Now a rare find.

A 1995 Vintage Single Cask #1711 special bottling from the GlenDronach distillery, matured for 19 years in an Oloroso Sherry Puncheon Cask for "Tiger's finest selection No.7" and bottled at an impressive 55.1% ABV.

Nose: Golden black pepper combined with prune syrup, cocoa and subtle hints of vanilla and orange blossom. Appearance: Polished cherry wood. Palate: Crisp oak and orange bitters flood through dark chocolate and cedar wood add a warming spiced finish. (Producer's Tasting notes).

650 bottles were released in 2015. The bottle number is for reference only.

The Yoichi 12 years has a higher percentage of sherry casks, offering more aromatic complexity than its younger sibling, while keeping  the characteristic peat notes, with both mature oak and delicate floral aromas widening the spectrum.

This series of has received several awards over the years including Gold Medal on IWSC 2017, Double Gold Medal on 2018 Sanfrancisco World Spirits and Best Japaese Single Malt on 2019 World Whisky Awards.

The Balvenie Founder’s Reserve is a classic 10 year old Single Malt Scotch whisky which was created by The Balvenie Malt Master, David Stewart, from a marriage of bourbon and sherry casks. Originally launched since the early 1980s, the Founder’s Reserve is now discontinued. Various editions of this bottling were released, including some iconic releases such as the first editions that resembled a cognac bottle. Founder’s Reserve was discontinued in 2009 and replaced by the then current range of bottlings, which was more focused on finishes and original casks, like the Caribbean Rum Cask finish, 12 Year Signature Reserve etc..

On the nose, The Balvenie Founder’s Reserve is rich and complex with honey and orange notes and just a hint of peat. Its taste is full-bodied honeyed sweetness, with light spicy notes and a hint of sherry fruitiness. Its finish is long with a pleasant lingering richness (Distillery Tasting Notes).

We estimate this to be an early 1990s bottling.

Miyagikyo 10 Years Single Malt Japanese Whisky is from the Miyagikyo distillery, founded by Masataka Taketsuru, the father of Japanese whisky. Located in Miyagi Prefecture, the distillery is renowned for its elegant, fruity whiskies made with various malted barleys and unique techniques. The whisky is distilled in traditional pot stills and matured in a mix of American oak, sherry, and other cask types, enhancing its complexity and richness.

Fresh citrus and stewed fruits. Very crisp, fresh and enjoyable and a great entry to the aged whiskies from this distillery located in Sendai in Northern Japan. Sadly discontinued and a rarity.

First distilled in 1973, Longrow is the double distilled, heavily peated style Single Malt from the Springbank Distillery. Longrow 1994 vintage is reportedly matured in a mix of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. Vintage releases have since been discontinued by the Distillery. 

Nose: Subtle fruity mix of smoke and wood, a bit of peat, sea salt and seaweed Palate: Sweetness, honey and vanilla, along with some peppery notes and hint of peat Finish: Lingering peat and smoke.

This is a special bottling released by the Shinshu Mars Distillery and is a vatting of malt from two distilleries, "Komagatake" and "Chichibu", which has been matured at Mars Shinshu Distillery in a variety of Bourbon Barrel, American White Oak and Sherry Oak for more than 5 years. In 2015, Mars Shinshu Distillery and Venture Whisky (Chichibu) Distillery began exchanging their new make spirit, which was subsequently matured in their respective locations. 10,918 Bottles were released.

Nose: sweet maple syrup, oak spices and some notes of varnish along with plum and a hint of caramelised orange peel Palate: Sweet caramel, some brandy cake, cacao and nutmeg with a hint of smoke and spiciness Finish: Gentle tannins along with some black tea on the finish. With water, more caramel and toffee notes are evident along with oak spices.

The sixth official release from Kilchoman (i.e. one of the earlier bottlings) is a vatting of three year old and four year old whisky from first fill and refill bourbon casks with the four year old finished in sherry casks for about a month. Lots of smoke, iodine, and salty notes with hints of oloroso in the background. A great bottling to taste a Kilchoman from its early days.

"2022 Edition" includes Whisky distilled from unpeated malt at Kanosuke Distillery between 2017-19 and matured on an average for about 3 years in a variety of casks but primarily Sherry Casks.

The "2021 The First"  release used re-charred American White Oak ex-“Mellowed Kozuru” aged rice shochu casks, and "2021 The Second" used traditional bourbon barrels.
