Bottled in March 2009, only 176 bottles were released. The Private Collection bottling series from Gordon & MacPhail usually showcase a unique selection selected by the family members of G&M. They are usually small batch, single cask whiskies which are rare and aged and of exceptional quality. These series of bottlings were first launched in the late 1990s.

This is a marriage of the East and the West. Legendary Mizunara Oak Casks which have been unique to Japanese Whisky,  travelled 6000 miles from Japan to Islay and sat in Bowmore's equally legendary No.1 Vaults to finish this remarkable creation.

Originally matured in Bourbon and Sherry Casks, which were then finished in Mizunara Oak Casks for about 3 years.

Color: Warm amber Nose: Spicy, mellow sweetness carried on a fresh ocean breeze Palate: Sweet vanilla, cedar wood, exotic mango and honey rose blossom Finish: Floral spice and fragrant smoke.

The Valhalla Collection captures Orkney's historical Scandinavian connections with Thor representing the Norse God of Thunder and supposedly the creator of the Cliffs of Yesnaby on Orkney's west coast. A great cask strength 16 year old malt bottling and presented in a wooden frame inspired by a viking long boat! Increasingly difficult to find.
