Bottled at 50% under the Old Malt Cask series by Hunter Laing. An August 2013 bottling just after the split of the Independent Bottler Dounglas Laing amongst the two brothers Freddie and Stewart into Douglas Laing (Freddie) and Hunter Laing (Stewart) whereby the Old Malt Cask range was brought over to Hunter Laing. First produced by James Logan Mackie in 1861 and taking its name from a famous Edinburgh inn, White Horse is a historic brand with Lagavulin one of its key components.  We estimate this to be a bottling from the late 1950s to early 1960s.

Given the date of the bottling, we expect a major component of this whisky to be Lagavulin.

Selected by David Stewart, the Balvenie Malt Master at the time this rare single cask #15354 from 1975  was distilled on 23rd September 1975 and bottled in April 2008 at a cask strength of 47.3% ABV. Bottled for the Taiwan market, only 216 bottles were released. "A richly complex aroma that is a harmonious blend of floral, fruity and spicy notes ~ including orange, fresh cherries, marzipan, cinnamon and a hint of allspice. Its taste reveals luscious layers of rich fruit, spicy oak, honey and delicate tannins. The flavours flow from sweet vanilla through to dried fruits (raisins, sultanas, apricots) and finish with subtle soft leather and tobacco leaf. Its finish is long and lingering with a crisp dry oakiness." (from Balvenie).
