Alchemy Single Malt Whisky is a new core range release from New Zealand’s Pōkeno Distillery. “Alchemy” expresses a magical process of creation and transformation, where carefully selected elements are combined to create something extraordinary.
This expression brings together some of Pōkeno’s oldest whiskies, fully matured across six cask types: Pedro Ximénez sherry butts and hogsheads, lightly and medium toasted virgin American oak barrels, as well as ruby and tawny port barriques.
The result is Pōkeno’s boldest and richest release to date, bursting with notes of ripe red fruits, dark chocolate, and Black Forest gâteau. Layers of rich honey, caramel, and vanilla beans follow, leading to a long, luxurious, and fruit-driven finish.
Pōkeno Distillery is nestled in a warm, misty valley, protected by volcanic hills. From this unique environment, they source pure natural spring water and the finest barley from three family-owned farms in New Zealand’s fertile South Island, ensuring exceptional quality from grain to glass.

The long aging created a balanced profile with floral notes, tropical fruits, and hints of lavender. These flavors blend with Springbank’s classic style, showing mineral and slightly salty notes. The cask also adds light smoke and touches of dark berries.
The bottle features a golden and silver engraving of an ancient dragon in a mosaic design. It is presented in an elegant box. The theme of the design is “light,” or “lumen” in Latin, symbolizing a radiant ancient dragon.

This 2026 Single Malt limited edition is crafted from a generous selection of key malts, featuring whisky aged in bourbon barrels and finished in apple brandy casks, alongside spirit matured in re-charred ex-shochu casks and finished in white wine casks.
Additional layers of complexity are introduced through sherry casks and a subtle hint of peated whisky, all refined through a slow dilution process to achieve a mellow, rounded depth.
The whisky opens with gentle floral aromas. On the palate, it reveals a soft sweetness reminiscent of yuzu bean paste, followed by a long, soothing finish with lingering notes of grapefruit and a touch of sea breeze.

It is bottled at cask strength, with only 334 bottles released. The first nose is said to evoke a creamy café latte.

The label designed by Artist Saumya Bharati and titled “The Rainbow Girl” is the second in the collaborative series with the same Artist. The bright colors of the rainbow celebrate the transition between the clouds & the rain to the warmth of the sunlight shining through the water droplets in the sky and the joy this very moment brings to the girl.
