A rare old bottling of Johnnie Walker Red Label, estimated to have been bottled in the 1970s for the Japanese market. It was bottled at 43% ABV, slightly higher than the modern 40% ABV, and bottles like this often appear at auctions or specialized vintage whisky retailers. Given the likely bottling period in the 1970s (i.e. before the famous Whisky Loch in Scotland which forced many distilleries to close) it most likely contains some rare and closed distilleries. A great window into historic past of Scotch.

The label features the classic color Striding Man motif: a flamboyant Victorian‑style figure in a bright red coat, top hat, and boots, often outlined or highlighted in gold or yellow to contrast against the red‑background label. This full‑color style is characteristic of Red Label bottles from the 1960s–1970s and differs clearly from later, more minimalist black‑and‑white iterations of the logo.

Kilchoman 14 Year Old Ex-Sherry “20th Anniversary Cask Series” is a limited-edition, one of two 14-year expressions celebrating 20 years of Kilchoman distillery operations. It was distilled in 2011 and fully matured for 14 years in five first-fill ex-sherry butts (cask nos. 145, 146, 148, 149, and 150), imparting intense notes of dates, spices, and chocolate alongside Kilchoman’s signature coastal, peaty style. A total of 3,145 bottles were released worldwide, with approximately 20 ppm phenols.

Tasting Note: Nose: Fresh and spicy with bold BBQ smoke, black pepper, and rich dried fruits. Palate: Intense, with warming spices and dried dates on the palate. A touch dark chocolate and herbal liquorice balancing the spice. Finish: Long and full of flavour, with lingering sweet spices, rich BBQ meats and subtle integrated peat smoke. (From the Distillery)

Kilchoman 15 Year Old Ex-Sherry from the 20th Anniversary Cask Series showcases the distillery’s sherry-matured mastery. This limited edition distilled in 2008 or 2009 and matured in five first-fill ex-sherry casks (Casks Nos. 644 & 670/2008, 16,444 & 513/2009). A total of 3,153 bottles were released worldwide.

Tasting Note: Nose: Soft with a peppery spice, rich sherry sweetness, and a hint of salty, briny notes. Palate: Rounded and rich in character, with a peppery kick, sherry soaked dark fruits, and a gentle smokiness bringing a savoury, briny character. Finish: Viscous and warming, with rich fruits, salty dark chocolate, and a lasting balance of sweetness and smoke. (From the Distillery)

Cask: Ex-American Cask and French Wine Casks

This 10 year old Port Charlotte heavily peated to around 40 ppm—is distilled, matured (in ex‑American whiskey casks and French wine casks), and bottled entirely on Islay by Bruichladdich Distillery. Port Charlotte sits between classic peated Islay malts and Bruichladdich’s ultra‑heavily peated Octomore range.

A vintage bottling from the Miyagikyo Distillery labelled as "Sendai Miyagikyo" and likely to have been released between late 1990s and mid 2000s. (though the code on the back label confirms the bottling date to be perhaps 2006).

In 2015 Nikka discontinued all aged Miyagikyo expressions due to aged stock shortage.

Cask:  Refill Oloroso Sherry Cask 

Size: 700 ml

A limited edition release from single cask #94 whisky from Springbank Distillery. It was distilled in 1994 and matured for 30 years in a refill Oloroso sherry cask before bottling in 2025 in collaboration with Silver Seal (IB Bottler). Only 118 bottles were released.

The long aging created a balanced profile with floral notes, tropical fruits, and hints of lavender. These flavors blend with Springbank’s classic style, showing mineral and slightly salty notes. The cask also adds light smoke and touches of dark berries.

The bottle features a golden and silver engraving of an ancient dragon in a mosaic design. It is presented in an elegant box.

Ardbeg has been studying the effect of maturing spirit in space. To celebrate the conclusion of Ardbeg’s experiment in space, this release of the heavily peated Supernova (100 ppm vs the usual 50 ppm), this is one of the most heavily-peated whiskies from Ardbeg.
