The label has been designed by Artist Kenro Shinchi of Koshikishima island in Kagoshima, Japan to capture the art of Sado. Nose: Mixed fruits, liquorice, citrus and sweet smoke Palate: Orange, spice and christmas cake, with warmest peat smoke and dark chocolate Finish: long with lingering sweet smoke and cooked fruits. This Asaka Cabernet Sauvignon Cask Reserve Single Malt Japanese Whisky was distilled in 2019 from unpeated malt and bottled in October 2024. A very unique bottling indeed with the Asaka whisky being first matured in bourbon barrels for 3 years before being aged for an additional year in Cabernet Sauvignon wine casks from Napa Valley, a renowned Californian wine region.

This beautifully whisky is non-chill-filtered with natural color and layered with Asaka's signature notes of bright citrus and subtle sweetness, elegantly enhanced by the influence of the red wine casks. Limited Release with only 1,316 bottles available worldwide.

The key malt comes from the Asaka Distillery (Japan) while the other whiskies are from Scotland, Ireland, USA and Canada (& 4) 

Tasting Notes: A hint of maple syrup and floral notes on the nose combined with a rich malt on the palate with some cereal notes, hint of spices and and subtle smoky aftertaste.

Experience the fourth chapter of KANOSUKE's exclusive "Artist Edition" series, a profound exploration of the Japanese Five Elements philosophy (Godai). 

"Artist Edition #004", draws inspiration from “Metal (Gon)” and KANOSUKE's signature three pot stills to create a complex vatting of diverse unpeated spirits. At its core lies a lush, fruity spirit from Kanosuke's Spirits Still 2 (SS2), elevated by the rare depth of triple-distilled bourbon barrel spirit. The journey culminates in a unique finish within Islay casks, matured under the Kagoshima sun in Hioki. This fusion evokes a layered, lingering finish—a dialogue between the sea breezes of Islay and Hioki.

The "Artist Edition" series is inspired by the "Five Elements Theory" (wood, fire, earth, metal, water), a concept deeply rooted in Japanese culture. Various artists have been invited in the past to create original labels based on these five elements.

The beautiful brush gold label is designed by Japanese artist Keiko Yuasa, whose delicate brushwork captures the serene essence of "Metal (Gon)."

The Yamazakura Fine Blended Whisky is made by Sasanokawa Shuzo Co, a small distillery in Japan. Orange blossoms on the nose, followed by oak, caramel, and fresh orchard fruit on the palate. Easy on the nose and palate, this is a very gentle whisky with an upfront sweetness that stays on the palate followed by dark chocolate in the finish.

Sasanokawa Shuz's own distillation has also gone through turbulent times in sync with the Japanese whisky market's boom and bust cycles with bulk spirit imports replacing their own production through these times.

The label features the Pica Serica, a symbol of good fortune and auspiciousness. In Chinese culture, these charming birds are seen as messengers of good news, embodying hope and blessings.

This lovely peat smoke whisky promises a unique and memorable tasting experience.

Color: Gold Nose: Vibrant aroma with sweet smoke, a subtle hint of ash alongside some toffee, zesty and buttery lemon tart Palate: A mix of some lightly smoked orchard fruits with hints of dried fruit, seaweed and spices. Add some water and caramel sweetness kicks  in with some barbecued honey bacon Finish: Some spices and subtle smoke at the back end.
