This whisky released in Jan 2023 has been distilled using a combination of their 3 pot stills and aged in re-charred American white oak ex-“Mellowed Kozuru” aged SHOCHU casks. Kanosuke Distillery is located on the picturesque shores of Fukiagehama beach in Kagoshima was established in 2017 and started its operations in 2018. The Whisky Distillery is owned by Komasa Jyozo, one of the Shochu producers in Japan and currently counts Diageo as one its shareholders (via Distill Ventures, Diageo's Drinks Accelerator).

Designed specifically for the discerning whisky enthusiast, this dram delivers a bold profile, with the elevated alcohol content serving to intensify the complex flavors while skillfully maintaining a balance of sweetness and smokiness. Edition Peated is the Fifth whisky in the Nagahama Amahagan World Malt series and the first in the series to feature a smoky, peaty flavor. Edition Peated won a silver medal in the Best International Blended Malt category at the 2022 WWA, demonstrating its market recognition.

Since its opening in 2016, the Nagahama Distillery has faced challenges due to limited production, unable to meet market demand on its own. Therefore, Nagahama has been actively seeking collaborations with other distilleries to create blended whiskies, leading to rapid advancements in its blending techniques. This whisky is made by blending Nagahama malt whisky with smoky malt whiskies from other regions, followed by further maturation in bourbon casks, resulting in a more complex flavor profile.

Nose: Medium smoky aroma with hints of green apple, creating a pleasantly languid fragrance. Palate: the beer is light and airy, with a sweet grapefruit aroma and a surprising touch of acidity. Finish: followed by subtle hints of mint and ginna.

Discontinued along with other aged statement whiskies from Nikka, Yoichi 10 is the youngest of the Yoichi range that was available earlier.  Using peated malts in direct fired stills, this has been bottled at a higher than usual ABV of 45%. It received a score of 93 points in Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2013 edition.

Nose: Peaty smoke, sweet malt, and subtle fruit, with hints of brine. Palate: Full-bodied with smoke and spice. Finish: Long and warming, with lingering smoke and sweetness.

Pōkeno distillery nestled in a warm, misty, humid valley protected by the volcanic hills which from which they source their pure natural spring water and sourced the finest barley from three family-owned farms in New Zealand's richly fertile South Island.

The winter malt was inspired by the unique selection of New Zealand malts that we chose for our mashbill: Manuka Smoked Mal, Chocolate Roasted Malt, Toffee Malt, Laureate Distillers Malt. Then the distillery aged the Winter malt in only the finest first fill bourbon barrels.

Manuka Smoked Malt: The world’s only manuka smoked malt, offering a smooth, sweet smokiness.
Chocolate Roasted Malt: Specially roasted for Pōkeno, featuring delightful coffee and chocolate aromas.

Mars Tsunuki distillery is the second distillery of the Hombo Shuzo Group, launched in 2016. This is the 2023 release by the Mars Tsunuki Distillery in Kagoshima (where with a wide range of temperatures and blessed with high quality spring water from the Mt. Kurata mountain), with a release of 35,800 bottles. This is the 4th product release of single malt whisky distilled at Tsunuki (The Second Release of the Annual 'Year Edition').

Matured in the bourbon barrels for about 6 years. Nose: Marmalade jam along with sweet notes of honey, pancake, and a subtle smoke Palate: Citrus fruits, lemon peel and fresh malt Finish: Full-bodied sweetness balanced by a pleasant bitterness.

Pōkeno distillery nestled in a warm, misty, humid valley protected by the volcanic hills which from which they source their pure natural spring water and sourced the finest barley from three family-owned farms in New Zealand's richly fertile South Island.

Triple Distillation helps to concentrate not only the alcohol in the whisky, but also helps create lighter, more fruity flavours. Having only two stills, we performed the final two distillations in our 3600 litre spirit still, separating the hearts from the heads and tails each time. This bottling has been matured in only the finest first fill bourbon barrels.

Nose: Rich honey and vanilla with hints of citrus and toffee. Palate: A delightful mix of rich vanilla bean and butterscotch, complemented by sweet citrus notes and a hint of pepper clove. Finish: A long and rich finish, leaving a memorable impression. (Tasting Note from Distillery)

This unique kentucky straight malt whiskey has a soft, sweet, nutty character. Unlike a typical 100% malt whiskey, this whiskey is crafted from 51% malt and aged in new charred oak barrels, making it similar to bourbon and provides a new experience for bourbon drinkers. Color: Warm Umber Nose: Soft nutty notes drizzled with light caramel and milk chocolate coat a layer of fruit character (apple, dried fruit, tropical fruit). Hints of brown spice, savory mint and brown sugar mingle with a rich note of freshly milled toasted oak Palate: Dark chocolate and caramel coated nuts are dried out with a dusting of cocoa powder and brown spice.
