Reported to be bottled in around 2004. Initially matured in American White Oak casks, then transferred into ‘pipes’ which previously contained Port for a further period of maturation. Balance of sweetness and dryness, chocolate bitterness, a note of fresh mint with some hints of port and walnut (Tasting Notes from the Distillery). Score 83+ points on Whiskybase (225 votes). A great way to sample some older Glenmorangie.

Matured in mountain oak casks and bottled in 2003, the "Traditional" refers to "malt whisky in its original and most natural form", straight from the wood. Bottled at a high ABV of 57.2%, the "bouquet is robust but distinctly Glenmorangie. The addition of a little water releases a fascinating range of subtle aromas: cloves, vanilla, honey and citrus fruits all entwined with a hint of peat smoke.

The Glenrothes started their whisky production in Speyside in 1879 and this Glenrothes Quantum 40 is matured in a sherry cask for 40 years, and the bottle is designed and blown by master craftsmen of Dartington, a British crystal brand with a long history, and the crown-shaped glass stopper is also handmade.
A perfect bottle for a fantastic whisky indeed. Tasting Notes from the distillery: Soaked red cherries and marzipan. A touch of maple syrup with the fragrance of orange zest and light cinnamon. Then dark chocolate coated almonds with dates, toasted oak and nutmeg on the palate. The finish is rich, sweet and complex with lingering spice.
