作為斯佩塞 (Speyside) 保存最完好的秘密之一，這家釀酒廠一直生產出一些優秀的烈酒，尤其是在早期，作為一種非常芳香的威士忌，混合了果味和均衡的甜味，長期以來一直是人們喜愛的麥芽威士忌在攪拌機和威士忌愛好者中。

John Duff（在南非和美國多次建立釀酒廠失敗後）於 1898 年非常成功地在 Elgin/Morayshire 建立了釀酒廠。釀酒廠一直不斷地生產一些優秀的烈酒，至今沒有任何中斷，並且一直是 VAT 69、Dewar's 和後來的 Chivas Regal 的主要麥芽威士忌。

甚至日本威士忌之父竹鶴正孝似乎也曾在釀酒廠工作過一段時間，據報導，Nikka 以 Longmorn 為藍本設計了蒸餾器。
