A Rare & Vintage Macallan-Glenlivet distilled in 1939 and bottled by Gordon & MacPhail. An incredible and rare pre-war Macallan likely to have been bottled in the mid to late 1970s. As a key ingredient for many blends through most of the 20th century, Macallan had licensed its bottling to Campbell, Hope & King and Gordon & MacPhail in the 1960s and 1970s and which continue to be some of the most collectible bottlings. G&M is known to have been a regular buyer of stock from Macallan during the 1930s and 1940s and which helped the Distillery survive during that period. This in turn allowed G&M to release several of these incredibly rare (and now difficult to find) bottlings, primarily meant for the Italian market. The company mostly used the classic "Macallan-Glenlivet" label, but on occasions used this aesthetic "The Macallan" and more synonymous with Campbell, Hope & King, and favoured by the distillery itself when it took over in 1980.
