Region: Campbeltown (Scotland)
Age: 12 Years Old
Size: 700 ml
This whisky is a 2021 release single malt whisky from Mitchell’s Glengyle distillery, this is a lightly peated malt which has been aged in a combination of bourbon casks (about 70%) and sherry casks (about 30%). Re-opened in 2004 after being closed for almost 80 years, the Glengyle distillery finally came back to the Mitchell family (owners of Springbank) in 2000. Nose: oak notes are dominant, followed by toasted marshmallows and dried fruit pudding, as well as cherries, marzipan and a hint of peat Palate: initially fruity with citrus notes and orange peel, after this: vanilla, butterscotch, honeycomb and digestive biscuits can all be tasted and enjoyed Finish: velvet and smooth with lemon meringue, to conclude, there’s an oiliness and a saltiness that you’d expect from a Campbeltown dram (Tasting Notes from the Distillery).
