Part of House of Suntory, "Yamazaki” originates from the suburb of Yamazaki in Osaka, the hometown of Japanese whisky, and the first whisky distillery in Japan. A predecessor to the Hibiki releases, the Suntory Prestige was bottled in 1989 to celebrate Suntory's 90th Anniversary. Most of the malt in this bottling reportedly came from the Yamazaki Distillery combined with grain whisky. An extremely well balanced blend bringing forth cooked fruits, plums, raisins, toffee with a subtle hint of oak and tobacco. Bottled in a Kagami Crystal decanter.

Matured in casks made of Japanese Mizunara Oak, which is considered to be hard to work with. Mizunara Oak gives a distinctive coconut and sandalwood flavour to the whisky. Malt Advocate 19th Annual Awards: Best Japanese Whisky of the Year. This is the 2013 Release and it is estimated that about 1600 bottles were released.
