An old presentation (released around 2013) bottle of "The Balvenie 30 Year Old", crafted by malt master David Stewart by vatting Whisky matured in traditional and European oak casks. In our opinion this is indeed a masterpiece and showcases the skills of the malt master in creating a beautifully balanced and impressive aged whisky bottled at a higher ABV of 47.3%. Rich dark chocolate, hints of plum, marzipan and caramelized pear.
This series has been a Gold Medal winner at the 2004 IWSC and the 2013 release won a Gold Outstanding at the IWSC and Best Speyside Single Malt at the World Whiskies Awards 2013.

Background: In 1984, Hombo Shuzo closed the Kagoshima distillery and relocated production to Shinshu, marking a significant shift in Mars whisky production. The original Kagoshima style, developed from Masataka Taketsuru's detailed notes and established by expert Kichiiro Iwai in 1960, was known for its smoky and heavy character. This style did not gain sufficient popularity in Japan, prompting Mars to develop a lighter, more refined Japanese whisky at their new Shinshu facility in 1985. In 2009, Mars released the final five casks from Kagoshima as The Malt of Kagoshima, making this bottling a historically significant collector's piece that represents the end of an important era in Mars distillery history.

Tasting Notes: Nose: Rich aromas of dried fruits, dark chocolate, spices, subtle oak, and nuttiness. Finish: Long and warming, featuring lingering sweetness, gentle spiciness, and notes of dried fruit and oak, reflecting its age and quality.

Selected by Film Director, Matthew Vaughn, to celebrate the release of ‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’. 1991, the birth year of Kingsman agent Gary ‘Eggsy’ Unwin is also the vintage of the whisky selected for this bottling by Whisky Maker Rachel Barrie and matured in the finest sherry casks. Only 2137 bottles were released. Color: Deep walnut brown. Nose: black grapes with antique leather, leaf tobacco. This whisky has been matured in Cask No. 7555, an ex-Sherry Butt ad bottled exclusively for Boyao Zhao (a well-known Chinese whiskey connoisseur, who has also launched a variety of other Cask of Distinction series including Lagavulin, Talisker, Port Ellen and Brora etc).

Originally matured in Bourbon and Sherry Casks, which were then finished in Mizunara Oak Casks for about 3 years.

The Glenrothes started their whisky production in Speyside in 1879 and this Glenrothes Quantum 40 is matured in a sherry cask for 40 years, and the bottle is designed and blown by master craftsmen of Dartington, a British crystal brand with a long history, and the crown-shaped glass stopper is also handmade.
A perfect bottle for a fantastic whisky indeed. Tasting Notes from the distillery: Soaked red cherries and marzipan. A touch of maple syrup with the fragrance of orange zest and light cinnamon. Then dark chocolate coated almonds with dates, toasted oak and nutmeg on the palate. The finish is rich, sweet and complex with lingering spice.
