Using  a pre-prohibition style mix of 53% rye in its mashbill to offer spice and tobacco notes along with fruity, floral, and sweet aromatic flavours. A very well balanced Whiskey. Unlike with the tradition of the classic pennsylvania rye whiskeys which is a high rye (80%-100%) mashbill, Rittenhouse is a low rye (i.e. 51%), which is a modern kentucky rye mashbill. It helps this rye whisky carries a distinct and spicy flavor. This Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey has been made using a mashbill of 70% corn, 15% distillers malt and 15% chocolate malted rye (essentially a malted rye that has been heavily roasted, leading to its natural sugars to be caramelised to deliver dark chocolate like flavours).
