Tasting Notes: Nose: Rich aromas of dried fruits, dark chocolate, spices, subtle oak, and nuttiness. Palate: Full-bodied with layers of dried figs, sherry sweetness, spices, toffee, leather, and dark berries. Finish: Long and warming, featuring lingering sweetness, gentle spiciness, and notes of dried fruit and oak, reflecting its age and quality.

This is a special bottling released by the Shinshu Mars Distillery and is a vatting of malt from two distilleries, "Komagatake" and "Chichibu", which has been matured at Mars Shinshu Distillery in a variety of Bourbon Barrel, American White Oak and Sherry Oak for more than 5 years. In 2015, Mars Shinshu Distillery and Venture Whisky (Chichibu) Distillery began exchanging their new make spirit, which was subsequently matured in their respective locations. 10,918 Bottles were released.
Nose: sweet maple syrup, oak spices and some notes of varnish along with plum and a hint of caramelised orange peel Palate: Sweet caramel, some brandy cake, cacao and nutmeg with a hint of smoke and spiciness Finish: Gentle tannins along with some black tea on the finish. With water, more caramel and toffee notes are evident along with oak spices.

A private label bottling for Mizunara. Heavily peated malt in a Bourbon barrel. Color: Light gold Nose: Dive your nose into the glass expecting heaps of smoke and you will be pleasantly surprised with a vanilla, malty nose. Add some water...smoke smoke smoke. Don't forget to nose this whisky even after you have finished the whisky in the glass. Palate: The sweet vanilla and malty flavours are rounded off by some star anise and spicy peppers as we roll the whisky in our mouth. The spices are very evident and the vanilla become pronounced with addition of a few drops of water. Salty caramel, anyone! Finish: Stays in the back of the tongue and slows creeps into the back of the throat with a lingering salt & spice in the mouth.

A vintage single malt single cask bottling distilled in 04.1989 and aged for 20 years in American White Oak Cask #618 before being bottled in 12.2009. As many Shinshu Mars Whisky enthusiasts would suggest the American White Oak maturation works very well for the distillery and this bottling is a unique Single Cask at a high ABV of 58%. We understand that only 378 bottles are supposed to have been released.
No box is available. Please also note the level of the Whisky. Seal and bottling are in good condition with some stains on the back label. Sold in "As Is" condition.
