Karuizawa distillery, est. in 1955 at the foothills of Mt Asama (an active volcano northwest of Tokyo) was one of the highest distilleries in Japan at 850 m above sea level. Low temperatures and high humidity provided an ideal climate for making whisky. The Distillery stopped production around 2000 and was finally taken apart in 2011.
Bottled in 2012, this single malt was distilled during the final days of the distillery 1999-2000 and matured in European Oak Sherry Casks. This release was an exclusive bottling by Number One Drinks for Speciality Drinks.
Rated 87+ on Whiskybase (180+ Votes), Labels are a bit faded but still in good condition. Sold in "As Is" condition. Available in original paper box.
