"On The Way" releases of Chichibu were meant to capture the progress of the Distillery as they headed towards their first 10 years old Single Malt release in 2020 (a major milestone for the young but very popular distillery). Chichibu first started making whisky in 2008.
Bottled in 2019, 11,000 Bottles were released for this edition of On the Way.
This 2019 release is a vatting of 52 casks, which have been aged between five and ten years. Casks used are primarily first-fill ex-bourbon, some second-fill Chibidaru casks and apparently some Hogsheads with Mizunara (Japanese oak) heads. Some portion may also have included some peated whisky.
A lot of fresh fruits, green apples, ripe grapes, pineapples with coconut cream and hint of subtle earthiness. Bottle number in image for reference only.
