This Saturday, November 29th, Mizunara: The Library will come alive with the spirit of Shibushi City, Kagoshima — the home of Wakashio Distillery — and the warmth of its twin city, Naples. It will be a night of stories told through flavours: shochu cocktails inspired by Kagoshima’s craftsmanship, paired with vibrant canapé designed by Chef Antimo from Estro that echo the heart of Naples.

Together with our guest Yosuke Kamimura-san from Wakashio Distillery, flying in from Kagoshima, we’ve created a special cocktail and canapé menu that celebrates A Tale of Twin Cities — Kagoshima Shochu Cocktails X Napoli Canapés.

Mellowed for 12 years in handmade oak casks, this smooth, sweet dram offers rich rewards for those who like to DIG DEEPER. We lose a fair bit to the angels though, almost a third of every cask has disappeared into the ether before we’re ready to bottle. (source from distillery) 

Won a Gold Medal at the 2008 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, another Gold Medal at the 2014 San Francisco World Spirits Competition and a Silver Medal at the 2015 International Wine & Spirit Competition.

This Speyside Single Malt Whisky from the Aberlour distillery is "double matured" i.e. a vatting of whiskies matured for 12 years in American oak and Spanish Sherry Oak. Soft and rounded with apples on the nose, the taste is sweet sherry, toffee and spice like cinnamon and ginger. A lingering finish with sweet and warm spice.

This speyside single malt from Aberlour distillery is matured in a combination of American Oak Casks and Sherry Butts for 16 years. Deep and complex, Sweet, fruity and warm spice.

Matured exclusively in spanish oloroso sherry butts, this A'bunadh is the Batch 67 release from Aberlour. A'bunadh means "The Original" in Gaelic and is a respectful toast to the founder of Aberlour, James Fleming. Bottled at cask strength, this is an intensely rich sherried whisky. Aroma of spices, pralines, spiced oranges with a palate of black cherries, ginger and dark chocolate. The finish is long and balanced with hints of oak.

Usually a vatting of 5 - 25 year old Whiskies, the A'bunadh range is a highly awarded release from this distillery.

A highly collectible 1960s Aberlour-Glenlivet in the classic square bottle format at 750ml. Distilled in 1965 at Aberlour Glenlivet Distillery and bottled by Campbell's Distillery Ltd. for importer Rinaldi.

The label is notable for its “Over 8 Years Old” age statement, a style associated with historic export bottlings, while the 1965 vintage places it among the more desirable post-war Aberlour releases. The bottle retains the original tax seal on the capsule from Rinaldi imports.

Of particular interest is "Unblended All Malt" description, a vintage marketing term indicating a whisky is exclusively from 100% malted barley and drawn from a single distillery, without being blended with grain whisky, before modern terminology such as “single malt” became standard. 

This old Speyside malt carries the hallmarks of a bygone era and remains a desirable release among collectors seeking early distillery bottlings with strong visual appeal and historic significance.

Please note that fill level at top-shoulder, the capsule seal is slightly torn and the Label is bin-soiled. No box. Sold in "As Is" condition.

Aged in an Old Sherry Butt #105036 for 12 years, this is a rare single cask and one of the oldest aged releases in recent times from this small distillery in Japan (White Oak Distillery). 480 bottles were released in late 2020.  This is a rich, sherry cask matured whisky with dry figs, raisins and prunes, with a hint of spices and chocolate.

This limited-edition whisky, themed "The Ultimate Whisky That Perfectly Pairs with Cigars," is a collaboration between Nagahama and COHIBA ATMOSPHERE TOKYO, a premium cigar bar in Nishi-Azabu, Tokyo. During development, the blend was tasted with various Dominican cigars to adjust the recipe. The final design features a fruity, vibrant spirit as its core, blended with Nagahama Distillery PX sherry cask/ Oloroso sherry cask spirit with 50ppm peat.

Nose: Rich and layered, with notes of brown sugar, honey toast, nuts, and a touch of fruit acidity, all enveloped in a gentle smokiness. Palate: Bursting with fresh fruitiness from green apple and pear, transitioning into a smooth, sweet maple waffle-like finish. Finish: balanced interplay of tannins and peat from the sherry casks, resulting in a long and elegant finish.

Koval Distillery, founded in Chicago in 2008, using diverse grains such as rye, wheat, oat, millet etc. resulting in flavors distinctly different from traditional whiskies. To explore the impact of different casks on whisky flavor profiles, Nagahama Distillery acquired a batch of casks previously used by Koval for maturing their whiskies and named them "Koval Casks."  

The Amahagan World Malt Edition KOVAL is the original World Malt Whisky Edition 1 which has been further aged in Koval casks for 2 years and 3 months significantly enriching its flavor and complexity. 

Nose: Sweet and sour notes of tropical fruits like pineapple and mango, gradually revealing a cotton candy-like sweetness in the mid-to-late stages. Palate: Smooth with lively notes of pineapple, sweet grains, and green apple. Finish: Slightly dry with a hint of spiciness, and the finish is of medium length.

Ranked 95 points at the IWSC International Wine & Spirit Competition.

Nose: Raisins and berries from the red wine barrels blend perfectly with the unique malty sweetness of the Nagahama distilled wine. Palate: Refreshing orange peel aroma, adding a bright layer to the overall flavor. The natural sweetness of the grains slowly spreads in the mouth. Finish: Perfectly balanced bitterness that completes the complexion with greater balance and depth.
