The Batch 1 release of this Special Selection for "The Bothy" series was first matured in first fill ex-bourbon barrels before being transferred for a secondary maturation into smaller American Oak casks called Quarter Casks for a minimum period of 18 months. This greater contact between the whisky and oak results in a much more intense maturation over a shorter period of time. A full bodied Arran with rich vanilla sweetness and bold peppery notes in between alongside fresh fruits and a hint of dark chocolate.

12,000 bottles were released in Sep 2015. A 'bothy' refers to a simple shelter, usually unlocked and available for anyone to use free of charge and generally available as a basic accommodation for gardeners or other workers on an estate.

Originally launched in 2016 as a regular release within the Kavalan range, the Sherry Oak release uses the same Oloroso sherry casks used to mature the Solist Sherry expressions except that this has been bottled at 46% strength. Essentially a 46% version of the Kavalan Solist Oloroso Sherry release to be enjoyed straight up/neat. Dried fruits, nuts and raisins are the mainstay of this release.

Released as a part of the Zodiac Series from the Paul John Distillery in India, the Mithuna is the Indian counterpart of 3rd Zodiac Sign Gemini. Unpeated and non chill-filtered, the Mithuna has been matured in American virgin oak casks and finished in ex-bourbon casks and bottled at an impressive 58% ABV.

Nose: Some liquorice along with beeswax and vanilla Palate: Rich mouth feel of coffee mocha, orange peel and spices Finish: A sweet honeyed finish lingers in the mouth along with oak tannins.

Finished in Oloroso Sherry Casks (as we understand, for two years after five years in first fill ex-Bourbon casks), this Single Malt is a release from Paul John under their Select Cask series. Nose: Peach, apricot and light notes of caramel and blood orange Palate: Soft and sweet, with nutty chocolate and Melton Hunt fruit cake Finish: Intense and sweet with spices, some coffee mocha and dark chocolate.

Finished in Pedro Ximenez Sherry Casks (as we understand, for two years after five years in first fill ex-Bourbon casks), this is a release from Paul John under their Select Cask series. Nose: Aromas of figs, apricots and tropical fruits  Palate: Malty notes interlaced with creamy butterscotch, dry fruits and Christmas cake.  Finish: Orange peel and chocolate fudge.

This is Batch 3 released in June 2017 and is a vatting of whiskies distilled from scottish peated barley and matured in a bourbon cask #3189 filled in May 2012 and one port pipe cask #2715 filled in March 2012 and hence "Double Cask". Nose: rich honey, some floral notes along with a variety of fruits and some oak Palate: Tropical fruits with some lime and subtle spices Finish:  Fruity with delicate oak, cinnamon with a hint of pepper. 

This was a limited release of 1050 bottles.

Bottled in 2005 (reportedly), this bottling was matured in American oak casks, then transferred into Burgundy casks from the Cote D'Or for final stage of maturation. Typical floral bouquet of Glenmorangie, some notes of vanilla, honeyed sweetness, and fruits with a long dry and tingly finish (Tasting Notes from the Distillery). This experimental Bruichladdich was matured in American Oak barrels for about 15 years and then finished in Caribbean Rum Casks (from Guyanan distilleries Enmore and Uitvlugt) for about 2 years. Released in Oct 2011. Colour: Pale Gold despite the 17 years. Nose: Very different than normal with extensive tropical fruits layered on top of cereals/malt Palate: Rich texture in the mouth with a very subtle balance between the wood and the spirit with some sweet rum notes Finish: Barley and cereal notes are back.

A rare bottle to come by.

The first release in the "Art of Glengoyne" series carries a watercolor painting of the distillery with the snow capped peak of Dumgoyne hill by the Edinburgh based artist David Brogan.  Like all Glengoyne malts, this 10 year old is distilled from air-dried barley without any peat smoke. With a natural bright gold color and a smooth warming palate, this will remind you of green apples, oak and toffee with a hint of almonds and liquorice. A sweet malty finish. Named after a town on the east coast of India (called Portonova, located on the east coast of India in the Southern State of Tamil Nadu and was co-incidentally also under Portugese control between the 16th and 18th century), this un-peated single malt whisky has been matured in new American oak and ex-bourbon casks before being transferred to once-used port pipes especially imported from Portugal and finally back to ex-bourbon casks. Nose: Fruity sweetness and caramel, burnt apple pie Palate: Spicy and fruity flavor mixed with caramel and oaky saltiness. Finish: Long and fruity with hints of berry fruits.

'Kadhambam' means "combination" or "mixture" in the Tamil language (one of the many Indian languages and spoken in the state of Tamil Nadu, Southern India). Amrut Kadhambam was matured in three different cask types - Rum, Sherry, and Brandy, which delivers a combination of the aroma and notes from these three barrels. Nose: Rich and floral, honeyed, nutty, new oak, vanilla, tropical fruity aromas Palate: Candied fruits, subtle oak with a light dusting of peat and integrated spice Finish: Warm and complex with a dry and long finish (Tasting Notes from the distillery). "Its delectable aromas of citrusy spice and tropical fruit lures you to savour its creamy, butterscotch sweetness.  With complexities and an exquisitely balanced dryness, this is perhaps one of the softest Indian whiskies ever to be bottled" - From the Distillery. 

Nose: Light citrus with manuka honey arrives infused with ripe peach, apricot and vanilla. Palate: Rich mouth feel, sweet butterscotch. Finish: Warm spices reminiscent of toasted oak, and a hint of saltiness.

Released to celebrate Amrut Distillery Chairman, Mr. Neel Jagdale's 60th birthday, only 1350 bottles were released in 2017 (this is the second release). This was the oldest age statement at the time of its release and is part of the Greedy Angel's Series of bottlings (with later releases including a10 year and a 12 year old). Distilled using a mix of unpeated Indian barley and peated Scottish barley, this is a special bottling indeed. Tropical fruits with hints of oak combined with sweet malt and vanilla.
