A fully sherry cask matured whisky from Balvenie, which is unusual. Each bottle is part of a batch which comprises a few hundred bottles coming from a single cask and hence likely to somewhat different than the other batch while retaining the characteristics of Balvenie's spirit and flavours of rich sherry oak, dried fruits and subtle spices overlaid with a soft nuttiness and a nice long finish.

An old presentation (released around 2013) bottle of "The Balvenie 30 Year Old", crafted by malt master David Stewart by vatting Whisky matured in traditional and European oak casks. In our opinion this is indeed a masterpiece and showcases the skills of the malt master in creating a beautifully balanced and impressive aged whisky bottled at a higher ABV of 47.3%. Rich dark chocolate, hints of plum, marzipan and caramelized pear.

Released in August 2012, this whisky has been matured in traditional oak whisky casks and then ‘finished’ in casks that previously held Caribbean rum. To create the ideal finish Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE filled American oak casks with his own blend of select West Indian rums and when he judged the casks to be ready, the rum was replaced with the aged spirit and the wood was put to work adding the final touches. The result is the traditional smooth, honeyed character of The Balvenie mar
