ラフロイグ アイラ シングルモルト スコッチ

1815年、ドナルドとアレクサンダー・ジョンストン兄弟がアイラ島の領主から1000エーカーの土地を借り受けたことから始まりました。この土地は現在ラフロイグとして知られています。 1954年、ベッシー・ウィリアムソンがウイスキー蒸留所を所有・運営する唯一の女性として経営に就きました。彼女は前オーナーの秘書を務め、不在時には事実上のマネージャーを務めていました。

1994年、チャールズ皇太子はラフロイグ・シングルモルトにロイヤル・ワラントを授与しました。同年、フレンズ・オブ・ラフロイグも設立されました。2014年、ラフロイグの所有者であるビーム・グローバルは、日本のサントリーグループに買収されました。

ラフロイグは、甘い柑橘系の香りとは別に、独特のタールのようなヨウ素の香りを持っています。これは、熟成期間のほとんどで好んで使われる樽の種類、つまりバーボン樽に由来すると考えられます。
