ポートエレン シングルモルト スコッチ ウイスキー（希少＆ヴィンテージ）

ポート・エレン蒸留所は1824年、アイラ島南岸にアレクサンダー・マッケイによって設立されました。1836年、アレクサンダー・マッケイが経営難に陥ったため、ジョン・ラムゼイが蒸留所を賃借しました。ジョン・ラムゼイはアイラ島の所有者であるウォルター・フレデリック・キャンベルのビジネスパートナーでもあり、ポート・エレン蒸留所は島の主要なフェリーターミナルでもありました。蒸留所は1930年から1967年までの間、最初の休止期間を経験しました。残念ながら、1983年に再び閉鎖され、2017年にディアジオが再開を発表するまで、再び再開されることはありませんでした。

ポート・エレンの人気は、閉鎖後も高まっています。その主な理由は希少性の高まりですが、シャープな柑橘系の香り、強い海の香りを基調としたスモーキーさ、そして特徴的なオイリーなテクスチャーなど、近隣のウイスキーとは一線を画す特徴も持ち合わせていたためです。ポート・エレンの大部分は伝統的にリフィルカスクで熟成されているため、長期熟成にもかかわらず、樽熟成が過剰なポート・エレンはほとんど見られません。
