This Single Cask bottling from the Asaka Distillery is exclusively selected and bottled for Mizunara: in Tokyo (located at Kagurazaka) for a special release during Whisky Collection Koriyama 2026.
Showcasing the unique character of the long fermentation in wooden washbacks of the Asaka Distillery, this Single Cask has been matured in a First Fill Bourbon Barrel (from Early Times Kentucky Bourbon) #20033 for more than 6 years. The whisky is bottled at its natural cask strength of 61% ABV. Unchill-filtered and uncompromised, it captures the vivid, authentic character of the whisky straight from the cask. Only 190 bottles have been released across Japan, Hong Kong, and Singapore.
Tasting Notes:
Colour: Pale Gold
Nose: A vibrant bouquet of fresh fruit aromas such as green apples, kyoho grapes, juicy pear and features notes of vanilla, honey, and lemon butter cake.
Palate: Cooked fruits, pears and peaches, with cereal and malty notes that evolve into rich salted buttery undertones with a very thick velvety mouthfeel
Finish: Lingering oak spices with a warm subtle sweet finish that leaves a lasting impression on the palate.

Nagahama Distillery’s Fragrant Collaboration series features the Coffee Cask expression, created in partnership with Bankoku Coffee, a long-established roaster from Yamagata. This bottling uses Nagahama’s non-peated malt as the base, with secondary maturation in bourbon casks that previously held aromatic coffee beans. It is bottled at cask strength, with only 334 bottles released. The first nose is said to evoke a creamy café latte.
Tasting Note: Aroma: Opens with notes of espresso and dark chocolate, followed by a fragrant wave of vanilla and caramel. Palate: Dominated by rich coffee flavors, closely followed by creamy sweetness, toffee, and a hint of maple syrup. This Asaka Cabernet Sauvignon Cask Reserve Single Malt Japanese Whisky was distilled in 2019 from unpeated malt and bottled in October 2024. A very unique bottling indeed with the Asaka whisky being first matured in bourbon barrels for 3 years before being aged for an additional year in Cabernet Sauvignon wine casks from Napa Valley, a renowned Californian wine region.
This beautifully whisky is non-chill-filtered with natural color and layered with Asaka's signature notes of bright citrus and subtle sweetness, elegantly enhanced by the influence of the red wine casks. Limited Release with only 1,316 bottles available worldwide.

Yamaga New Born 2022 is a first release new-make whisky from Yamaga Distillery in Kumamoto, Japan, created to mark the distillery’s first anniversary. Located in northern Kumamoto Prefecture, the distillery makes use of high-quality groundwater and the basin’s hot, humid climate, with the whisky blended from spirits aged in bourbon barrels.
Released on 1 December 2022, it was bottled at 58% ABV in a 375ml format, with 3,421 bottles produced. As a young new-born spirit rather than a fully matured single malt, it showcases distillery character and early promise more than age-driven complexity. It is a blend of seven selected casks matured for around 7 months in bourbon barrels. Whiskybase rate at around 86 points.
Tasting notes from distillery: Aromas of green apple and osmanthus, along with roasted nuts and elegant malt flavors, create a delicate yet robust body. Aroma: Butterscotch, milk caramel, apple pie, blackcurrant, mint. Flavors: Silky, osmanthus, sponge cake, cashews, lemon cake, camphor, meringue, mitarashi (sweet soy sauce glaze)

This bottling has been at the forefront of growth of Japanese Whisky. This Single Malt Whisky from Suntory has been winning several awards from the early years of 2003, 2010 - ISC Gold; 2009, 2013 - SWSC Double Gold, 2011 - IWSC Gold (best in class). With a beautiful golden hue, the palate brings out fresh tropical fruits, spices such as cloves & cinnamon, a hint of coconut (perhaps coming from the Mizunara Oak matured components of this whisky) with a long finish.

Sadly, this expression has been discontinued as of 2020 and limited bottles remain available in the market.
