Asahi means 'The Sunrise', Asahi Shuzo has been producing Kokuto Shuchu in Kikojima of Amami Islands since 1916. Ichinoji Asahi Kokuto Shochu is made with 2.5 times more brown sugar than the original Asahi Kokuto Shochu. Using Black Rice Koji (kuro kome koji) from Thai Rice (a method similar to Ryukyu Awamori) results in a full bodied and rich palate which remains fresh and crisp through the finish.
