Speyside distillery was built near Kingussie in 1987 by George Christie (a whisky broker and blender who had previously established a grain distillery in 1957), and began producing malt whisky in 1990. The first expression bottled in 1993 under the Drumguish Distillery Company as an NAS and at 40% ABV Drumguish single malt was most likely only 3 years old. Drumguish was then removed from the market around 1999 as older Speyside distillery expressions were released. Speyside distillery, its holding company Speyside Distillery Company, and the Drumguish Distillery Company, were finally all acquired in 2000 by a private investment group, and then changed hands to Harvey’s of Edinburgh in 2013.
This is a rare bottling in 2013 from this Distillery aged for 17 Years in a Sherry Butt for the Scotch Malt Sales Limited.
